23120BRReq No.:23120BRJob Description and Qualifications:Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an opening for a Ph.D. Student Internship at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Successful candidate will use their skills in zeolite materials synthesis, characterization and development. The position will be in the ASU Purifications Group, which is a part of our Air Separation Technology Team focused on research and development of new adsorbent materials and processes supporting our air separation businesses, and particularly those focused on front end cleanup of air for large scale separation processes.

This assignment is 11 weeks in length.

Potential areas where interested candidate can be involved includes (but not limited to):

  • Development of new zeolite crystallization chemistries for synthetic zeolites.

  • Physical characterization and application of zeolites in front end purification processes.

  • Filing of IP covering new zeolite synthesis processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering, with experience in materials synthesis and development

  • Strong commitment to laboratory safety

  • Solid materials chemistry background with fluency in a variety of solid state materials characterization techniques

  • Preferably, experience in kinetic and equilibrium adsorption measurements is desired

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Good organizational skills

Optional Qualifications:

  • Fluency in experimental design, particularly around materials synthesis

  • Significant experience in zeolite crystallization processes

  • Familiarity with zeolite and adsorption literature
