Shift Mechanic Trainee

The Shift Mechanic Trainee will participate in Niagara’s Maintenance Technical Development Program (MTDP). A Shift Mechanic Trainee will learn the skills necessary to act as a Shift Mechanic through hands-on training as well as training receiving from Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) courses. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager, who will be the onsite MTDP program champion.

Detailed Description

The Shift Mechanic Trainee will complete the learning objectives of an 18 to 24-month training program to be able to:

o Perform on-demand maintenance and repair of the following equipment in the manufacturing facility:

  • Blower

  • Filler

  • Capper

  • Labeler

  • Packer

  • Palletizer

  • Conveyors

  • Husky Machine

o Complete daily responsibilities assigned by the Program Supervisor and complete a daily/weekly checklist, if provided

o Explain and demonstrate accomplishment of the learning objectives for each learning activity in both theory and practice

· Upon successful completion of the MTDP program, the Shift Mechanic Trainee will be placed into a full-time position as a Shift Mechanic

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED

Preferred:

  • Vocational Technical School Certificate or Associates Degree (AA)

· All candidates will be required to pass a mechanical and electrical aptitude test

· Flexibility and mobility will be assessed

· Shift Mechanic will be required to be available to work different shift throughout the program, including nights and weekends
