The Data Architect primary job function is to analyze, design, develop, test, tune, and maintain database software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. The SQL Server data architect is expected to take a lead role in designing and developing database subsystems as they will be called upon to write detailed technical specifications, and must possess excellent written communication skills. The data architect will develop the solution that provides the best combination of functionality, performance, and ease of maintenance.

Primary Responsibility:

  • Contributes to the development and executes to deliver a future state architecture that transforms our current technology landscape to service oriented decoupling presentation layers and business logic from systems of record

  • Facilitates solution design discussions

  • Generates conceptual/logical architectures, system documents and risk assessments. Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical database models.

  • Provides domain specific technical expertise and leadership to develop integration solutions spanning business processes, platforms and environments

  • Responsible for ensuring the recommended design is followed through to implementation through reviews of high-level and detailed design documentation

  • Supports application teams in utilizing the integration layer effectively to facilitate speed to delivery of business capabilities

  • Develops, improves, validates and uses tools to improve both the effectiveness and efficiency of architectural efforts, within both the area of expertise and scope of influence.

  • Create SSIS packages to import/export data, and load and process data.

  • Prepare data for job runs. Support jobs in process. Troubleshoot, analyze and repair job issues.

  • Develop and enhance stored procedures. Write ad-hoc SQL queries to support report requests.

  • Prepare design documents and technical specs explaining and motivating the approaches to be taken in the deployment of systems. Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years technical leadership and/or architecture experience.

  • Experience in a BI/Data Warehouse environment with involvement in design and architecture.

  • Experience developing ETL solutions utilizing SSIS including Requirement Gathering, Analysis, Design, Development and Implementation of Enterprise solutions.

  • Experience in business process modeling & reengineering.

  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization by Indexing, Partitioning and Denormalization.

  • Experience in various architecture disciplines like Application, Data, Security and Infrastructure.

  • Experience with developing integration solutions and ecosystems that decouple data from systems of records and presentation systems that scale.

  • Experience in defining architectures that meet security, scalability, high availability, and network management/monitoring requirements, in a hybrid environment

  • Strong knowledge of API's and Frameworks and data integration models

  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment, proactively innovating solutions that support the goals and desired outcomes that provide business value Skills:

  • Excellent Programming experience in writing Complex Stored Procedures, Queries, Views, User Defined Functions, Cursors and Common Table Expressions using T-SQL.

  • Expert in creating tables, indexes, keys, constraints and triggers to facilitate efficient data manipulation, integration and consistency.

  • Excellent understanding of Entity-Relationship/Multidimensional Data Modeling (Star schema, Snowflake schema), Data Warehouse Life Cycle and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).

  • Extensively worked on Design, Development, Deployment & Maintenance of ETL process using IBM Data Stage and SSIS to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) data from various sources (Flat/XML/SQL/Oracle) to different targets (SQL/HDFS).

  • Excellent written and oral communications

  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills

  • Strong leadership skills including ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language; ability to communicate effectively to business leaders and technology subject matter experts

  • Ability to build and maintain exceptional working relationships in a diverse environment

  • Highly self-motivated and directed with ability to facilitate or independently research application issues

  • Expert in developing Data Marts, Data warehousing, Operational Data Store (ODS), calculation scripts, data matrix, OLAP, Star Schema Modeling, Snow-Flake Modeling, facts, dimensions, partitions, Tables using MS Analysis Services.

  • Proven ability to work in a team oriented environment

  • Possess high level of organizational skill and keen attention to detail

  • Must possess knowledge of how to tune and optimize SQL Server database and solutions including partitioning, indexing, sharding etc.. Education - Degrees/Certificates
