Precision Castparts Corp. Operations Manager in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania


The Operations Manager is responsible for overall operations including, Facilities, Maintenance, and overseeing compliance to Quality Systems and Environmental Health and Safety program.


  • Implement 2% quarter over quarter productivity improvements, through shop wide cost out projects.

  • Lead lean project teams to drive continuous improvement efforts. Use Lean “foundational tools / elements” including: 6S, one-piece flow, SMED, Six sigma, DMAIC etc. Have a proven track record of continuously improving team performance, productivity, levels of quality, and eliminating waste in manufacturing processes.

  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Production Schedulers to leverage staff and equipment so that production priorities are achieved between departments.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide employee feedback to help shape performance results.

  • Participate in the talent acquisition process (Team based interviews).

  • Utilize operational metrics to drive shop-wide performance.

  • Develop plans to insure long and short-term goals are met.

  • Strong positive leadership skills, coupled with creative, and decisive problem solving ability.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.

  • Experience utilizing MRP or Oracle

  • Develop long term capacity studies, reviewing manpower, and machine utilizations by hours, to ensure resources are adequate to support the workload.

  • Ensures that daily goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly


  • B.S. or advanced degree (engineering or business degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience, preferably with CNC machining background.

  • Maintenance experience is desired (Hydraulic, mechanical or electrical)

  • Strategic planning experience and analytical problem solving skills.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.

  • In depth knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing practices.

  • Theory of Constraints experience.

  • Self-motivated and achievement oriented.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
